Tom and I served together in the Air Force Reserve, mostly at March AFB. I knew of his association with Ecke and that he was a school principal. He was a good friend and when i ran across this obituary, some 8 years after he passed, I was saddened. I had heard that he was ill, but never knew the rest. He often mentioned his wife Holly and Trent many times when we were together. Rip Tom.

The Service today was very well done, the Military Honors were quite touching. We were blessed to have Tom & Jean as our neighbors for about 25 years. Tom was our own neighborhood watch and often told us of things we had missed in the neighborhood (at night). They would take our dog Mitzi to the grooming shop with them & bring back a gorgeous dog. We will continue to remember them & to miss them. Please accept our deepest sympathy, we pray for God's special comfort for all of the family members. Sincerely, Mike & Evelyn McElroy

Mr. Trainer was my fifth grade teacher and my math teacher in junior high. He was an inspiration to his students.

I am so sorry to learn of Tom's passing. He was a good friend as was his wife, Jean. Tom was my principal for two years at North Terrace School at the beginning of my public school career in Oceanside Unified School District. We also travelled together one summer while working for Paul Ecke Poinsettias. He was a good friend and administrator.

My deep condolences to his family.

He will indeed be sorely missed.
