Vernon Wright Obituary

Vernon Neil Wright, Sr. Vernon Neil Wright, Sr., 82 of Austin, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 27, 2011. Vernon was survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette (Burkhardt); daughter Debi McGarah; son Neil Wright (Judy); granddaughters Cristen Walter (Casey), Megan Wright; great grandchildren Christian Walter and Cassidy Walter; Dick and Deane Childers; Hobart and Evelyn Kennedy; Billy and Donna Conn. Among numerous nieces and nephews. Vernon was born in Vanderpool, Texas to Xina Casparis and Ralph Wright on January 12, 1929. He met the love of his life (Jeanette) in history class while attending Austin High School preparing to enter the University of Texas. His career in retail sales and management extended through six states and ended in Austin, Texas. His true calling was serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher in many churches, and a Bannockburn Baptist Church cook with a crew of men and women. Many still talk about his deacon classes, Sunday School teaching and breakfast at Bannockburn Baptist Church. His true joy was serving the Lord and loving his family. How he loved us so. Vernon was preceded in death by his mother Xina Casparis and father Ralph Wright, Sr. As well as his brother Ralph Wright, Jr. (Audrey). Honorary Pallbearers are Neil Wright, Casey Walter, Dick Childers, Hobart Kennedy, Billy Conn, Kevin Childers, Shepherd Allen, Pal Scully and Tom Davidson. Our family would like to thank: In Home Health Care, In Home Health Hospice, John, Jerry, Marcos, Cynthia and Maryanne. Our family is truly grateful for the loving kindness of all the people God brought into our lives that loved Vernon. A memorial service will be held at Bannockburn Baptist Church on October 1, 2011 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers our family requests contributions be made to: Mission at Bannockburn Baptist Church in Honor of Vernon Wright, 7100 Brodie Ln, Austin, Texas 78745.
