Together Forever
Chaplain Wayne Arthur Bebb, age 92, of Palmyra, peacefully went into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2017.
Wayne was born February 1, 1924, in Deerfield, Ohio, to parents, Willard and Marie (Reed) Bebb. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Charmaine Baer on April 28, 1950. Wayne was devoted to caring for his wife, especially during the last ten years of her life.
Wayne was a deeply spiritual person. He was a longtime member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 60 years. He served as Chaplain for Charity Lodge F&AM in Deerfield for many years, as well as Chaplain for the Portage County Nursing Home and later the Woodlands.
Wayne proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Wayne retired from Goodyear as a manager of Corporate Electrical Engineering after working there for 44 years.
Remaining to cherish and honor his memory are his son, William D. Bebb and wife Clemmy; daughters, Linda E. Almashy and husband Dan, Barbara K. Ludban, and Carol J. Bebb; grandchildren, Kristina J. Gatewood, Amanda A. Ludban, Emilee C. (Ernie) Jordan, and William M. (Kristen) Bebb; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Taylor, Daniel, Kennedy, Grace, Chase, Alex, and Benjamin. Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Bebb on September 22, 2011. Also preceding are his parents, his grandson, Danny Lee Almashy Jr., and his brother, Russ Bebb.
Friends and family will be received Monday, January 23, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Masonic Services will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m., followed by funeral services officiated by Reverend Don Booth. Interment will follow at West Cemetery in Palmyra with military honors provided by the Deerfield American Legion and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
