William DeLoach Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - William "Bill" Joseph DeLoach, age 86, died peacefully at University Hospital on Monday, October 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 23, 2015, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Jerry Peele officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. DeLoach was born on May 26, 1929, in Augusta, Georgia to Albert and Myrtis Dennis DeLoach. A life-long resident of Augusta, he attended Richmond Academy and retired from Skinner Auto Supply. He attended Cokesbury UMC and later, Burns Memorial UMC, where he sang with the Chancel Choir and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mr. DeLoach was a devoted husband, a gentle father, and wonderful grandfather. His hobbies included photography, league bowling, poetry, and woodworking. He also loved music and shared his musical talents by singing in church choirs and leading "Sunday night singing" at Cokesbury and at Burns. What he loved most was his family. His grandchildren lovingly called him "Pa." He is survived by his daughter Susan DeLoach Timmerman (Glenn), of Wilmington, NC; his son, M. Patrick "Pat" DeLoach (Katherine), of Augusta, GA; his grandchildren, Anne DeLoach Nelson (Matthew), Rachel Marie Timmerman (Steve O'Connell), James Patrick DeLoach (Leigh), Michelle Leigh Timmerman (Jimmy Barber), and Joseph Mobley DeLoach (Maggie); and his great grandchildren, Rhys DeLoach, Caleb Nelson, Peyton DeLoach, Sarah Nelson, Tatum O'Connell, and Phoebe O'Connell. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 65 years, Thelma Howard DeLoach; his father, Albert DeLoach; his mother, Myrtis Dennis DeLoach; and his sister, Emmie Nobles. Active pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to St. John Towers, 724 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 22, 2015, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
