William Korka Obituary

William John Korka William John Korka, 77, entered in rest September 1, 2008, in Tallahassee. Interment with full military honors will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home (850-877-8191). Bill was born in Troy, New York and served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. While station in Rota, Spain, he meet his future wife, Trinidad. They soon married and had a wonderful life living in Rota, Spain; Norfolk, Virginia; and Gelnhausen, Germany. He was truly dedicated to his family and friends and he was widely known for his generosity and his ability to bring joy and humor to those he met. After retiring from the Navy, Bill became a school teacher and taught in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and later in the Dept. of Defense Schools in Germany. During that time, his summers were spent in Spain, relishing and enjoying the simple pleasures of life, family and friends. Bill was an adventurous soul whose joy in life included unique dining experiences and traveling to small villages and towns. He continued in his adventures even after retirement from teaching by traveling throughout Europe and North America. Bill is survived by his son, John Korka (and wife Katie) of Fairfax, Va.; three daughters, Mary Marinello (and husband Tony) of Huntersville, N.C., Trini Dixon (and husband Iain) of Tallahassee, Lourdes Korka of Chesapeake, Va.; grandchildren, Tony, Billy, Trini and Allie Marinello, Beatrice, Jacquelyn, Liam, Bennet and Oliver Korka, Mary and Katie Dixon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Trinidad, and daughter, Jeanette Korka.
