William Handley Obituary

HANDLEY - William Sr., of Patchogue died Wednesday October 22, 2008. Dear friend and fishing buddy of the late James Hoffa, WW II Marine Corps Veteran. He was a Pioneer of the Labor Movement on Long Island and Hunts Point Market, brought the first Teamsters Union to Long Island in the 50's and Retired Vice President of Teamsters Union Local 202. Bill was the Labor Chairman for the 4th District Council of the New York State Senate and Staff member of Senator Owen Johnson. Bill also held a position on the New York State Boxing Federation Commission, received the Man of the Year labor award from the Italian American Arts and Assistance Council and dedicated numerous other valuable contributions to the history of Long Island. Bill is survived by his beloved wife Stella, was the loving father of the late William Jr., James (Virginia) Handley and Joan C. Handley Falisi. He was the proud grandfather of James, Christopher and Scott Handley and Ross William, Jeffrey John and Candis Marie Falisi. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and his dear sister Mae Kruzecamp. Reposing Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Robertaccio Funeral Home Inc., 85 Rte 112, Patchogue, NY. Funeral Mass Tuesday at St. Francis deSales Church. Interment St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
