Rachel Harper Taylor Outlaw

KINSTON | Mrs. Rachel Harper Taylor Outlaw, 87, died Monday afternoon, October 31, 2016. A native of Greene County, she was born January 16, 1929, the daughter of Albert Lyman and Lillie Mae Carraway Harper. A consummate homemaker and wonderful cook, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse H. Taylor and Alger E. Outlaw; an infant daughter; and siblings, Minnie Mae Joyner, Nell Harper, Helen Beamon, C.H. Harper and Lyman Harper. Her surviving family includes her sons, Jesse Ray Taylor and wife Kay, of Kinston, and Steve H. Taylor and wife Janice, of Wilmington; grandchildren, Kathy Taylor Rouse and Michelle Taylor Cupp, both of Kinston; great-grandchildren, James Gilbert of Louisiana, and Travis Rouse and Olivia Rouse both of Kinston; sisters, Ann Hart of Snow Hill, Linda Roberts of Pikeville and Carol Coffey of Leland; and a brother, Harold Harper of Snow Hill. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 3, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Pastors Allen Ham and Jerry Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service and other times at the home of Jesse Ray and Kay Taylor.
