I spent many days hanging around the Huffines house back in my younger days. Cruzing the streets with your Mom and Dad in the big Pontiac station wagon. Dr Huffines was always a fun loving man and loved his kids dearly. He treated me like one of his own. He used to call us "Knucks" short for knuckleheads. Howie, Jay, Robin and Robert I am so sorry for your loss. Your Dad will always hold a special place in my heart

I am saddened to learn of the death of Dr Huffines. I knew him while I attended UNC medical school. He helped my daughter enter UNC and later advised her in med school and in her pathology residency.Bill was a dedicated UNC fan and I am a dedicated NC STATE fan and we had many enjoyable experiences debating the teams sucess and failures over the years.

I always admired Bill and am sorry I did not express my graditude enough to him.He was a fine man, professor, doctor and friend. He will be missed by many.

Dr. Huffines was a fine gentleman and a good friend to those of us who had the good fortune to know him. He was the same person with students and technicians as he was with fellow medical staff and administrators. Many of us and the University benefited greatly from his long years of service. Dr. Huffines was a quiet, patient teacher and wonderful friend to my father. For many years they had adjacent seats in the upper deck of Kenan Stadium. I have fond memories of Saturday afternoons spent in their company. In later years, I came to know Dr. Huffines better as a physician and a professor. He was very helpful to me and many others who attended the medical school or trained at the pathology department. In sincere sympathy for your loss.
