I have had the opportunity to be a friend and colleague of attorney John T. Bennett of Bennett and Walsh, ESQs for a period exceeding 13 years in Connecticut. Professionally, Attorney Bennett was a gentleman of integrity, honesty, and humility in reaching out to other lawyers. I recalled in 2007 when I arrived in Ansonia, he offered me substantial legal guidance with his partner as a mentor and friend. He had assisted me in resolving many difficult questions. He promptly supported my admission to the Federal Bar in 2011.

Indeed, Atty Bennett reached out to many young lawyers in our community. With his help to other colleagues, including myself, he did not seek compensation for his outstanding legal experience. I was so sorry to hear of John's death-a loss to the Connecticut Bar.

Equally important, Atty Bennett's inspiration in the
practice of law will be with me for a very long time. I thank God for allowing me to meet him.
We send all our love and deepest sympathy.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Bennett family. I was looking for an address to send an old photo to John and discovered he passed away. I was glad to have stopped at his office last September 2019 and met his wife at that time. The memories were all good from basketball at the family home, football games at Nolan field and the croquet tournaments in Milford. John was always the organizer and leader of the band.
John you lived life well and your family and friends knew that as well.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Eileen, John's children, grandchildren and his entire family on John's passing. He was a wonderful person, friend and lawyer. He was one of the stalwarts of the Valley Bar and someone who was a sincere pleasure to work with. He was smart, hardworking and had tremendous character and integrity. His word was his bond.

I will always be especially grateful for the help he gave me in my political campaigns running for the State Senate in the late '70s and early 1980's. He was the coordinator of my campaigns in Ansonia and he always did a superb job. He, Eileen, I and many others had a lot of fun working on the campaign, meeting people, attending fundraisers, sending out mailings and generally participating in the electoral process. I have so many memories of these great times and the help John and Eileen gave me for which I will be forever grateful. John and I share an additional bond in that our misspent youth, we played rugby. I never played against John but I know he was a keen competitor and great player.

John and the Bennett family are an institution in the Valley. He and they have greatly enriched our lives. John will be sorely missed never forgotten.

Sincerely,

Gene Skowronski

I was heartbroken to learn of John's passing from my mom, and wanted to offer my deepest condolences to Eileen, Max, Mary, Patrick and John. You truly were a second family to me growing up at the beach. I have so many fond memories of babysitting, traveling with you on the trips to Maine and Florida, and bringing Phoebe to your house to give pony rides. Those were such happy times! I feel lucky to have been able to spend so much time with you all when I was younger, and then years later visiting home and and popping by to catch up with John and Eileen, sitting on the porch while my own little kiddos played in the sand. The world has lost a truly wonderful person who will never be forgotten, and had a huge impact on all who were fortunate enough to know him. Sending love and light to you all in this time of sorrow.

Eileen and Family,
Like so many others, we have been blessed with John's thoughtful generosity through the years. It should be remembered that before John became the loving and a devoted husband and father, he was the 'world's coolest cousin".
The Bennetts are and always will be "first class".
God Bless,

John - A man who gave of himself selflessly, knew how to tell a joke, dressed with color & flair, loved his family intensely, intelligent & professional, a man "at the rescue". My heart goes out to his children and to Eileen, and all of John's family. A wonderful man has left our earthly world, but I am sure of one thing - He will continue to watch over all those who he loved, because that IS John. My family is broken with sadness and sympathy. On a personal note, Dear John - Thank you from the deepest part of my heart for your care & candid advice to my son, Spencer...who respected you, admired you, appreciated you and who has declared you as a major influence in his "wonderful life". I thank you, John. I'll miss you, and I promise to look over Eileen. Hugs and blessings to all.
