Remembering Mark on the fifth anniversary of his passing. I think of him every time I'm in or traveling through downtown Oakland.

I just found out recently about Mark's passing. Echoing sentiment, It hits hard for me as well. Mark (Gags) was drum section leader in our Wind Ensemble at Notre Dame High School where I also played drums. Mark had all the qualities everyone describes. I played bass guitar in a high school band with Mark as well. He was an excellent drummer & friend.
My heartfelt sympathies to his entire family.

I worked in the recycling field with Mark when I was in the neighboring city of Emeryville and he was in Oakland. I always enjoyed his wry and dry sense of humor, but his sarcasm was never mean-spirited. He was one of the smart but also a kind-hearted ones. We're about the same age and I also grew up in Connecticut so we had that in common. I'll miss him.

Mark Gagliardi was a gentle soul and the type of person that made this world a better place for so many others. While his passing is certainly difficult to accept, we can all take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his Mother in Heaven.
Sending love and prayers to his entire family. What a tremendous loss to everyone who ever crossed paths with Mark.

This news hits hard. I went to grade school and high school with Mark. I concur with what classmates Maria and Dennis have written. Mark was brilliant, talented, pious, compassionate, and humble. I wish I had learned of his passing earlier; I could have attended his service in Oakland. In tears---

Mark "Gags" will always be fondly remembered by me. He was a kind, thoughtful, intelligent man, one whom I always respected and admired. May all who knew and loved him be comforted by lasting memories and God's grace, resting in the knowledge that Mark is home with his mom and Lord. Rest in peace, my friend, Class of 1978.
