Howard was a major force in my career. While pursuing my graduate degree, I did computer work at night for Howard. I was a long haired hippy, and dressed in jeans and a t shirt. Once I graduated, Howard told me he would hire me if I "cleaned up my act."
I remember showing up a Monday morning at the office on 40th street, and Howard looking at my clean shaven face, haircut, and 3 piece Yves St Laurent pin striped suit and saying "This I can work with!"
I wore many hats, whether it was as a computer specialist, or Director of the Food Council, or MDI, but my best memories are of Howard and I driving from the City to Albany, to meet with representatives of the State's Department of Agriculture and Markets regarding policy issues impacting the NYC milk industry, Those car rides were more educational than any formal education I had.
Condolences to the family.
RIP Mr. Tisch, and thanks for your guidance.

Dear Carol and David,
We are all saddened by Howard’s passing. He was such a kind,, compassionate, intelligent, generous, loving brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle. He was a big influence in our lives sharing his knowledge in so many ways. Howard was very family oriented and especially loved having the family over for dinner. We will never forget the delicious “Famous Tisch Cheesecake”! One of my favorite memories was when we went to Italy and Howard, Carol and I took a cooking class, The Art of Italian Gastronomy at the Academia Barilla in Parma. We had such an enjoyable day preparing different meals and later sat down and shared the meals together. Our hearts are broken. He will be deeply missed. Dear Aunt Carol and David,
My heart aches for you both as you mourn the passing of Uncle Howard. He was the best and funniest Uncle anyone could wish for. From napkin tricks at the dinner table, to jumping/diving into the ball pit at Sesame Place, he always knew how to have a good time and make us laugh. He introduced me to sautéed scallops and so many other delicious dishes, but I still miss and talk about his scallops the most! We had fun family vacations and awesome summers in Old Westbury. However, my favorite memory is when we left a family dinner and Uncle Howard would stop at a restaurant for more food because we were all still starving! :)
Uncle Howard played such an important roll in our lives and he was always there when we needed him. I will miss him so much, but will always remember his kindness, love, and sense of humor. Rest In Peace, Uncle Howard. Hope you’re driving fast and furious!
Love, Susanne, Chris, and Noah Johnson
