Richard "Dick" Lee Haury, Sr, 85, of Orlando, Florida passed away the morning of May 4, 2018, with his family by his side. Dick was born to the late Joseph and Myrtle Haury, on January 13, 1933, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a proud alumnus of Auburn University. He graduated in 1955 with a BS in Civil Engineering. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Mary Anne Higgins in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dick devoted his career to developing airports all over the world. This career spanned more than five decades. He was the Project Manager of Orlando International Airport and Denver International Airport, Assistant Project Manager of Tampa International Airport, and involved in the development of over 100 other airports throughout the world, including Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Nanjing. Over the course of his career he was active in several professional organizations and was widely recognized for his skill and leadership. He served as President of the American Society of Civil Engineers for the Florida Chapter, was a life member of said society, was awarded a Key to the City of Orlando, among other awards and recognitions. He became the Senior Vice President for the Airports Division of URS Corporation (now part of AECOM), an international engineering, design, and construction firm which is ranked among the top engineering firms in the world. At the end of his career in 2015, he was awarded the Downes Award by the Airports Council International in recognition for outstanding service and leadership in promoting the cause of airports and aviation. Dick was an avid golfer and member of the Orlando Country Club and was active in his church community of St. James Catholic Cathedral. As a member of the Cathedral, he served as a Eucharistic minister to the sick at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Dick never met a stranger and had a friendly word for everyone. His infectious laughter, unfailing generosity, and warm heart will be missed by all who knew him. Dick is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Mary Anne, as well as his four children, Susan (Phil), Richard, Lisa (David), and Timothy, and seven grandchildren, Christina, Melissa, Philip, Susannah, Richard, Mary Clara, and Emily.
