Family-Placed Obituary

STIRLING A. SPADEA Stirling A. Spadea, a prominent artist in Bucks County, PA died of lung cancer on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Marlboro Hills Nursing Facility in Massachusetts. Mr. Spadea was 83 years old and had in recent years been living in West Palm Beach, FL. He was born in New York City, NY, attended St. BernardÕs School, the Forman School in Litchfield, CT and Norwich University. He served in the artillery and in the Criminal Investigation Department during his service in World War II and the Korean War before turning his attention to painting. He was a self taught artist, his subjects ranged from natural street scenes, to nudes, to still portraits or 'people paintings' as he called them. Some of his shows included: The Richard Stuart Gallery, The James A. Michener Art Center, the Tinicum Art Festival, Lord and Taylor on 5th Avenue, the Janet Nessler Gallery, and The Portal Gallery in London. He also illustrated and authored the book, 'The Magic Fingers', under the pseudonym Bruce MacCrimmon. He is survived by his daughter, Eden Spadea; his son-in-law, William Ross; his two sisters, Anne Spadea Combs of Doylestown, PA and Sara Black of Plattsburgh, NY and two grandsons, Jack and Samuel Ross of Stow, MA.
