STONE


LOUISE DAVIS, age 79, died on March 22, 2011. Louise was the oldest daughter of the late Collis Davis and Billie Davis of Hampton VA. She was born January 3, 1932 in Hampton VA, educated at Fryeburg Academy, Fryeburg ME, the Class of 1949. She graduated from Colby College, 1953, and attended the New York School of Social Work, Columbia University for a year of graduate work, then went on to a career in advertising, publica-tion production, editing, and writing. After serving as Director to the North Carolina Department of Labor, Publications Division, she retired and has worked on art projects for nonprofit art groups.
Louise is survived by her ex-husband, Chuck Stone, Emeritus Professor of Journalism, University of North Carolina and former Philadelphia Daily News Columnist; daughters, Krishna Stone, Allegra Stone, son, Charles S. Stone III and grandchild, Parade Diosa Stone; sisters, Thulani Davis, Jennie Davis Brown, and a brother Collis H. Davis Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Ave., Montgomery AL 36104.
Arrangements by CREMATION SOCIETY OF THE CAROLINAS.

We were surprised and saddened to learn of Louise's passing. She had become a good friend over these many years and her imprint on Fryeburg Academy remains a deep and lasting one.
