Alvira Slostad Obituary
Alvira was born March 1, 1927, in Westby, Wis., the daughter of Cornelius and Anne (Gronning) Skolos. She married Elmer Slostad June 22, 1947. The couple moved to Preston in 1951 where she was a homemaker and later worked at KFIL in Preston. She became a resident of Park Lane Estates in 2009.
Alvira was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Preston.
She is survived by five sons, Carsten Slostad of St. Paul, Steve (Doris Dingley) Slostad of Lakeville, Paul (Carla) Slostad of Apple Valley, James (Debra) Slostad of St. Paul, and Peter (Joyce) Slostad of Champlin; six grandchildren, Alex Slostad, Jasmyn Curry, Anna Slostad, Josh Slostad, Matthew Slostad and Elizabeth Slostad; three stepgrandchildren, Sheldon and Peter Erickson and Robert Swenson; and three great-grandchildren, Tayah, Mac and Isaiah Curry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; one granddaughter, Jessa Slostad; three brothers; and one sister.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at Christ Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steve Slostad and the Rev. Dan Bredberg co-officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from noon until the time of service.
Thauwald Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
