LT. COL. CHARLES ALBERT
Lt. Col. Charles Albert Linaberger, U.S. Army, Ret., 71, of Frederick, died on Friday, April 8, 2005 at Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick. Born on April 26, 1933, in East Franklin Township, PA, he was the son of Rev. Walter A. and Jessie R. Lytle Linaberger. Mr. Linaberger was a graduate of Mt. Union College in Alliance, OH, where he was a member of PHI Kappa Tau. Charles was drafted into the U.S. Army in the early 1950's and also served in the Army Reserves for total of more than 40 years, retiring in 1993 after ascending to the rank Lieutenant Colonel. He was a Calvary Unit Officer for more than 25 years. During his military career, some of his commendations were: Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Metal with Oak Leaf Cluster, American Campaign Metal, Valorous Unit Award, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Vietnam Service and Campaign Metals, Army Occupation of Germany Medal, 2 O/S Bars, Presidential Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Reserve Achievement Metal, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachute Badge. He was also an avid hunter. Surviving are a sister, Mara Watson and husband William of Wellsburg, WV; a brother, James T. Linaberger and wife Sandra of Sewickley, PA; a stepdaughter, Kara Gimbel of Conover, NC; 5 nieces and nephews: Anne Linaberger, Mara Linaberger, Elizabeth Linaberger, Lynn Neumann and Edward Watson; 4 great nieces and nephews: J.T. Mazula, Liam Best, Audrey Neumann and Ava Neumann. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 8, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Those wishing to attend should meet at the Administration Building at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Charles Linaberger Scholarship Fund at Mt. Union College, 1972 Clark Ave, Alliance, OH 44601, Attention Advancement Office. Arrangements are by Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick

I extend deep sympathy to all the family for a loss of a loved one and especially to his Sister Mara who was such a dear friend during our teen years at Morningside Methodist Church. He served our country and we will all miss him.
