Clarence Neff Obituary

Neff Jr., Clarence E.

Clarence E. Neff Jr. of Port Crane, NY, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 13, 2012. He was born in Deposit, NY to the late Clarence E. & Melba (Conrow) Neff Sr. He was also predeceased by his only son, Gary E. Neff and a sister, Francis M. Marshall and a brother, David C. Neff. Clarence is survived by his loving and devoted wife Annabel M. Neff, a sister, Helen M. & Thomas Patton, brother-in-law, Robert Marshall, several nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends Ernie Fisher, David & Nancy Ward, Janet Race & Jacki Speicher. Clarence was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II having served his country proudly. He worked many years, first with Endicott Johnson Shoe factory then retired from NYSEG as a Safety Inspector. For nearly 70 years, Clarence and his wife Annabel did everything together. They loved to square dance, to go bowling, and to travel. They built their own home on Beartown Rd. in Port Crane and enjoyed tending to their flower and vegetable gardens. They shared a love of the outdoors, and went fishing and dear hunting together. Clarence played spanish guitar in a band, and Annabel was his biggest fan. Throughout their lifetime, one of their favorite pastimes was to jump in the car and go for long drives together with no destination in mind. They would have celebrated their 70 year wedding anniversary on October 9, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Sunday, September 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM, with Father Geoff Doolittle officiating. Burial will be at 9:00 AM on Monday, September 17, 2012 with Military Honors. His family and friends are invited to the funeral home on Sunday, from 12 noon until the time of service.
