Deane Williams Obituary

Williams, Deane Decker

In Memory of a wonderful husband and father.

Deane had a zest for life. He believed in living each moment and making the best of them. He was born and raised in the Empire State, New York. He loved the land and the history. He graduated from Chenango Forks High School in 1957. He went on to Elmira College where he earned his Bachelor's degree in computer science. He enjoyed a successful career in Information Technology for 37 years at Singer Link. Deane loved to travel and meet new people. He loved music and he loved to dance. Even more so, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Martha and their four children. They are Judith and husband Dave, John and wife Cathy, Jim, Heather and husband Zack. They have two grandchildren, Dean and Tia. One of Deane's favorite sayings was "If you meet a problem, just grab it and growl." That is how he solved problems. Of course, he also used this phrase at the dinner table. That was his way of saying, "get it now or go hungry". Deane also loved God. He often discussed the teachings of Christ with others and he lived the life. He walked the walk as they say. He was quick to help a friend and he treated strangers as if they were "angels in disguise". Here is a scripture that comes to mind when thinking of Deane: Proverbs 1:8-9 "Attend, my son, to your father's instruction and do not reject the teaching of your mother; For they are a garland of grace on your head and a chain of honor round your neck." Deane went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 27, 2014. He will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Deane's Life will be held Friday, July 4, 2014 at 11AM at the Bainbridge Presbyterian Church Bainbridge, NY. Family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to "The Family Life Network" (Radio Station WCII), Bath, NY or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Deane was a school mate at CFCS...always so funny & an awesome person. We had such a great time with him & Martha when they came to visit us in Blairsville, GA a few years ago. We were expecting them back this summer for more dancing, laughs & fun. So sorry for your loss Martha & family. Deane will be remembered in our hearts always.

Deane will always be fondly remembered as the driving force behind making our 50th Class Reunion happen and for how much delight he took in traveling to new and interesting places. I would like to think of him as being on his greatest adventure and it being much more than he had ever imagined!

I had known Deane since elementary school. Over the years, we shared many laughs and good times. He was the kindest, most thoughtful, Godly man. After he and Martha bought a place in Florida, we spent many hours together playing cards, visiting, shopping, eating, and laughing at some of his crazy antics. Everyone loved him. He was never a stranger to anyone for long. He loved his family more than all else. We were honored to have known him and he will never be forgotten.

I remember Deane from our days at Singer-Link back in the 1980s. He was always a positive person to pass by. Later, after leaving Links, I would see Deane out and about, here and there, always with a smile and pleasant comment. When I think of Deane the word gentleman comes to mind. He honestly was in every sense of the word a true gentle man. This world loses a good, gentle man but I must believe he will continue bringing sunshine to others in the Heavenly realm. My heartfelt condolences to his whole family - Pat.

Deane will be greatly missed until we reunite in glory. Worked closely with him for 20 years and then Linda and I became close friends with Deane and Martha another 20 (here, in Texas, in Alaska). What a fun and loyal couple. Praying God's peace on Martha and this special family.

A great light has gone out here below, but is illuminating heaven in abundance. What a great loss to so many! He will be terribly missed. Our love and prayers go out to you, Martha, Judy, Dave, Tia, John, Cathy, Dean, Jim, Heather and Zack. He loved you all so well. We have so many wonderful memories which will be ever with us. His kindness knew no bounds; he gave it away to everyone he ever met. His home and heart were always open, and he is surely dancing at the biggest party in heaven now. God is with you all comforting and supporting you in each other, and in all of us who loved him dearly.

I graduated with Deane from the old CFCS school in Chenango Forks in 1957. Only saw Deane once in a while for many years till the 50th year class reunion which Deane had a lot to do with getting it organized. Over the last 7 yrs we had a lot of good times together & I came to love him & you Martha. What a wonderfully devoted couple you both were. My most humble & deepest sympathy to you and your sons & daughters. I will miss him so much.
God Bless & Comfort you all.

If you looked for the definition of a good person, Deane's picture would be there. He was an island of kindness in the sea of coldness and selfishness our world has become. Martha and Deane were friends of myself and my late husband for more than 40 years. His passing saddens the entire world, even if some did not know him. He made the world a better place.
