Robert Tarbell Obituary

Tarbell, Robert Stone (Bob)

Naples, FL: Robert Stone Tarbell (Bob) passed away on August 7, 2013. He and his wife, Helen, moved permanently to Naples, FL, from Vestal, NY, in 1997. Born in Hudson, MA, he graduated from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, with a degree in mechanical and aeronautical engineering. He joined the Naval Air Corps, receiving his "wings" at Pensacola, FL. As a Naval pilot, he flew the Grumman TPA Avenger torpedo bomber. Bob was employed as an electrical engineer and retired from his position with Singer-Link in Binghamton, NY in 1985. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Helen, and survived by six daughters: Joy Tarbell and husband Eddie Minyard, North Conway, NH; Jerine Tarbell, Knightdale, NC; Lee Steigele, Gainesville, GA; Dr. Nancy Tarbell and husband Dr. Jay Loeffler, Waban, MA; Linda Woodford and partner Dan Wall, Syracuse, NY; Dr. Barbara Tarbell and Dr. Larry Katz, Ringoes, NJ and by 10 grandchildren, and a great grandson. He is also survived by his sister Verna Donovan, Hudson, MA, and many nieces and nephews. An avid tennis player, Bob will be remembered by friends in the Binghamton/Vestal, NY area, as well as colleagues and friends at the Club at Sterling Oaks in Naples. He was a member of the Board of Governors for many years and a Founding Member of the Club at Sterling Oaks. A gifted singer, he was a choir member at St Michael's Church in Hudson, MA, and St. Vincent DePaul Church, Vestal, NY, and a member of the Barbershop Quartet Singers. He and Helen were active ballroom dancers and participated in events until their late eighties. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in North Naples. Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens at St. John's following the service. Family will receive friends and relatives at the Parish Life Center after the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Association of Southwest Florida.
