Miller, Donald R.

Vestal: Donald R. Miller, 80, of Vestal, NY, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 26, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Frederica; his son, Donald, Jr., daughter-in-law, Therese, and grandchildren, Paul, Stephanie, and Anthony Miller; daughter, Suzanne, son-in-law, Christophe, and grandchildren, Zoe and Jules Le Menestrel; and daughter, Lisa and grandchildren, Katerina and Colin Schurek. He is also survived by his brother, Robert G. Miller. Don was a 1955 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He served two years as a lieutenant in the Air Force and then returned to his job at General Electric-Utica. He received his MBA from Stanford University Business School in 1961. He then worked for RCA Astro Division in New Jersey. In 1968, he and his family moved to Vestal where Don was a project manager for Singer-Link with 20 years of service. He enjoyed his many assignments for Singer-Link including extended trips to Australia, Mexico, Italy, and England. Don was an avid and award-winning photographer and an exceptional family man and friend. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him. A viewing will be held at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal on Thursday, August 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Coleman & Daniels on Friday, August 30, at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Vestal Hills Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
