Edna Jensen Obituary
Edna Jensen (Eshleman) died Monday May 5, 2014 in Binghamton. She had just celebrated her 100th birthday the previous month. She was born in Bareville, Lancaster County. Edna was the last surviving Jensen (by marriage), living on Jensen Road until 2008, the original farmstead of Jens Peter Jensen. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Jensen in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Jensen Garcia of Bucks County, PA and son-in-law Richard. She also is survived by her granddaughter, Maya Gasuk (Dr. Mark Rishniw) of Ithaca as well as grandson, Peter Gabriel Jensen Garcia and his fiance, Lauren Graham of Hatboro PA. She also is survived by two sisters in the area, Ruth VanCamp, Chenango Bridge, Irene Carman, Brooktondale and four brothers, Walter Eshleman and Harold Eshleman of Florida, as well as Paul Eshleman, Cincinnati and Arthur Eshleman of Binghamton. Many nieces and nephews of the Jensen and Eshleman family in the western US, Ohio, New York State and Florida survive her as well. Edna was an accomplished homemaker and gardener and she also worked over the years for various IBM subcontract assembly companies, and eventually for the Singer - Link Corp. to retirement. A funeral service will be held at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC 765 Main St. Vestal, on Thursday at 11 a.m. Rev. Eric L. Jensen, Pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, Vestal, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Edna and her husband, Floyd, were lifelong family friends of the Johnson's on Old Vestal Road. I am the remaining daughter of that family. I remember Edna as a very beautiful lady. So sorry for everyone's loss, both of her lovely presence and a long ago time.

A few years ago, I met Edna through her sister Irene and her brother Paul. Irene lived in a very nice room at Elizabeth Manor where she had many of her cherished heirlooms from years gone by. She was a talkative lady who liked to tell about her family, her parents and how their family lived with 12 siblings to feed and dress and send to school and work on a farm. I was impressed by her memory and her graciousness.
