Claudia R. Miller, 97, passed away November 4, 2014 in Westerville, OH. She was born May 13, 1917 in North Platte, NE, the daughter of Sylvester and Nora (Fuhrer) Hutchinson. She lived in Denver, CO from 1921 - 1944. In 1944, Claudia joined the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1946 as a Specialist T (Link Trainer Instructor). She married James J. Miller in Norfolk, VA in 1946. She moved to Deposit, NY with her husband and lived there for 45 years. She then spent 12 years between Deposit and Clermont, FL as a "snow bird". After the death of her husband, she moved to Owasso, OK near her daughter for two years. She then moved to Westerville, OH near her three children. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim, in 1994 and by her son, Keith R. Miller. She is survived by three children, James J. Miller, Jr. (Dondi) of Orient, OH, Gary B. Miller (Theresa) of Cambridge City, IN, and Lorraine Reamy of Westerville, OH; by a daughter-in-law, Shirley Miller of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren. Claudia was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Deposit for 50 years. She established the Towne Crier in 1961 and operated it for 20 years. She was past president of the Deposit PTA, member and past president of the Read Memorial Hospital Board, secretary of the Deposit Chamber of Commerce for five years, a 50 year member of the Delaware Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a Past Matron and Past Grand Representative to the State of Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Deposit First United Methodist Church with Pastor Ray Bartholomew officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Deposit. Friends may call at the Zacharias Funeral Home, 78 Second St., Deposit, NY on Sunday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Delaware Chapter #244 Order of the Eastern Star, or to the Deposit V.F.W.
