of Johnson City: the fun-loving French Canadian, died on December 13, 2012, following a traumatic brain injury sustained on Nov. 28, and is now regaling the heavenly hosts with scores of his "big fish" stories! Born in Montreal, Quebec on November 12, 1931 to Dr. Lucien and Carolyn Reeves, Dick relished every swimming, fishing & boating moment of his teenage years living along the Richelieu River in Beloeil, Quebec. After graduating from Montreal High School, Dick received his BS in Electrical/Mechanical Design from L'Ecole Technique de Montreal and soon afterward moved to the Triple Cities where he met that feisty nurse Joan Johnson. After passing her humorous, no-nonsense quiz, they were married on December 12, 1959, and shared 50 years of caring, challenge and much laughter until Joan's death in 2010. Dick's career included work at McIntosh Labs, Power Engineering and Universal Instruments, from which he retired with nearly 20 years of service. He especially enjoyed his time at Link Aviation working on the Apollo Project. While much of Dick's retirement was spent caring for Joan, he volunteered with CHOW, was a member of Binghamton and Johnson City Masonic Lodges, and a nearly 50-year member of Boulevard UM Church. Dick was a faithful and loving father to daughter and son-in-law Allyson & Lynn Aylesworth and grandson Colin, who could always count on Dick's caring presence, gardening and automotive advice! He is also survived by his sister Florence Coffman, sister-in-law Lorraine Crosby, cousins, nieces and nephew Russell Johnson. Dick's funeral service will be held at Barber Memorial Home Inc., 428 Main St., Johnson City on Monday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ernest Steffensen officiating. Friends are invited to call at the Barber Memorial Home on Sunday, December 16 from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Memorial Fund of Boulevard U.
