Charles FitzGerald Obituary

Charles Dever FitzGerald
September 21, 2007
Charles (Chuck) FitzGerald died on September 21, 2007. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Nora (Fitzgerald) and Christopher Hardy, and Bridget (Fitzgerald) and Ken Scott; four grandchildren, Christopher Hardy (and fiancée, Erin M. Czako), Kathleen (Hardy) and Ryan A. Ives, Agneta (Lemesis) and Matthew Murnan, and Nicholas Lemesis; and great-granddaughter, Isabel Fitzgerald Ives. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Eileen F. (O'Brien) Fitzgerald; and his parents, Charles E. and Minnie S. (Perkins) Fitzgerald. After WWII Army service, Chuck graduated from Syracuse University. He cherished memories of working as a Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts. He worked for 27 years for Link (later Singer) Flight Simulation and was especially proud of his connection to the US space program's Apollo Mission, Lunar Lander, and Sky Lab. After retiring, Chuck spent 30 years researching, speaking, and publishing as a widely-respected genealogist. Chuck's curiosity, intelligence, and enthusiasm for friendly conversation will be sorely missed.

Dear Nora, Bridgett and Families-
My heartfelt sympathy to you on the passing of your father. I have wonderful memories of us growing up and learning so much from your Dad. He was always a happy person, encouraged and participated in our make believe play and took us on some interesting expeditions. I am glad to have this opportunity to contact you. When your mother passed, I was not able to send a card as I didn't know where you lived. I as well have lost both parents but realized that their job here was done and they needed to continue their lives on another level, whatever that may be. I know they are still watching over me and I take great comfort in that. I hope you can also. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Take care. Regards-Betsy Bruet Foley
