Clarence A. Smith
of Starrucca, Pa.
Clarence A. Smith, 82, of Starrucca, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the Barnes Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Mary Agnes Smith; brother, Rev. Jude Smith; and great-grandchild, Trey Allen Griffis. Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Waltraut; his four children and their spouses, Peggy and Jim Wehr, Frank and Deborah Melillo, Mary and Mark Sisock, Theresa and Robert Bracke; grandchildren, Shawn Connolly and Erin Connolly; great-granddaughter, Kailey Griffis; step great-grandson, Nathanial Hamburger; one brother, Walter Smith; two sisters, Marie Soden and Dorothy Bowers; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Clarence was retired from Singer-Link in Binghamton, N.Y. He was an active member of St. Paul's Church, Starrucca. He enjoyed the outdoors and fixing machines in his garage. Clarence was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who was patient and kind to all. A quiet man with a gentle humor, he was greatly admired by family and friends and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of Barnes Kasson Hospital for their care and support.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. at the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 208 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna and 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, Starrucca, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. John O'Bell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Clarence may be made to St. Paul's Church, Starrucca, Pa 18462.
