Edgar L. Williams, Jr.
of Binghamton
Edgar L. Williams, Jr., 90, of Binghamton, died Friday, January 6, 2006, at his home. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion, in 2002; as well as his sister, Edith Gearhart. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Howard Brown, Binghamton; a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Judy Williams, Boynton Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Audra Burton, Justin Davidson, Barbara Zhuchkan, Elizabeth Williams and Mary Kate Agley; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Herbert Corser; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Garrett and Patricia Guinane; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, having been a member of the first landing forces in Africa, and was a member of the VFW Post 478, Binghamton. He worked many years at Singer-Link Corp., and retired from IBM Owego. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, but his greatest joy was his vegetable garden.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton, with Rev. Thomas Hobbes, officiating. Burial will be in Windsor Village Cemetery in the spring. Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing may consider contributions in his memory to the Hospice Program at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
