John D. Thayne
of Chenango Bridge
and Ft. Myers, Fla.
John D. "Donald" Thayne, 94, of Chenango Bridge and Ft. Myers, Fla., died Wednesday afternoon, September 26, 2007, at Binghamton General Hospital. He was predeceased by his daughter, Bernadette Lois Thayne in 1988; a brother, Edward "Eddie" Thayne; and a sister, Alma HanCharik. He was born September 28, 1913 in E. Orange, N.J. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois Robbins Thayne, Chenango Bridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann Thayne and William Lillie, Lisle; two sisters-in-law, Marie Thayne, Windsor, Kathleen O'Connor, Binghamton; special, little people, Roman, Zenzi, and Kazio; a special cousin who was like a sister, Peg Guiton, Binghamton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was a member of St. Christopher's Church, Binghamton; U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a Disabled Veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 1645; V.F.W. Post in Ft. Myers, Fla.; member and former house manager of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was a retired employee of Singer-Link after 22 years of service. Special thanks to Dr. Ramanujan for his patience, kindness, and friendship to John and his family.
Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Saturday at 9:15 a.m. and at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher's Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
