Joseph Kocich Obituary

Kocich, Joseph F.

West Corners: Joseph F. Kocich, 96, passed away Sunday morning, May 13, 2012, at Wilson Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife of sixty years, Anna (Rogalavich) Kocich; a brother, Leonard Kocich; and a sister, Mary Fust. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joan Adams Duff and Max Duff of Endicott; two grandchildren, Karen Tisci and Kenneth Adams; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Tisci; two great-great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Haner and Travis Tisci; his brother, Albert (Ethel) Kocich; his step grandchildren, Correna (Joseph) Grogan, Kellie Duff, and William (Kristen) Duff and their children Jessica and Mallory; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his very dear friend, Margaret Murphy and his neighborhood friends. He was a member of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War and a retired employee of the Link Corporation, Binghamton. He was an inventor, boat and sleigh maker and an avid fisherman, spending time on the St. Lawrence River. Funeral services will be held Thursday 2 p.m. at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton with the Very Rev. Michael Kleban officiating. Entombment will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Joe's doctor, Christopher Ryan, for his compassionate care that gave Joe a longer, healthier life. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider contributing in Joe's memory to the charity of one's choice.
