Kenneth Sahre Obituary

Kenneth L. Sahre
of Vestal
Kenneth L. "Angus" Sahre, 38, of Vestal, died Sunday, January 2, 2005, at Wilson Hospital. He was predeceased by his grandparents. Survivors include his parents, Ken and Elaine Sahre, Vestal; brothers, Gregory Sahre, Vestal, Paul Sahre and fiancee, Emily Oberman, NYC; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Michael Roeder; and nephews, Christopher and Matthew Roeder, Victor, N.Y.; uncle Carl Sahre, Herkimer, N.Y.; uncle Richard and aunt Beverly Butera, Sparta, N.J.; and many cousins also in New Jersey. Ken enjoyed rock music of the 80's and 90's as well as some punk bands. He liked the rock band AC/DC so much that he named himself after their lead guitarist Angus Young. Angus always spoke his mind in a direct, forthright manner that could be blunt at times. However, beneath his gruff exterior was a caring, sensitive individual. He was a man of his word who understood the meaning of loyalty in friendship. Angus liked to travel and loved animals and decided to join Ringling Bros., Barnum & Bailey Circus at a young age. Most of his 16 years with the circus were spent working with and caring for elephants, and had a great deal of respect and affection for "my girls" as he called them.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, N.J. The family will hold a celebration of his life locally at a later date. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to: The Elephant Sanctuary, P.O. Box 393, Hohenwald, Tenn. 38462, or to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place, West 6th Floor, Brookline, Mass. 02445. Arrangements are by the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main Street, Johnson City, N.Y. 13790.

Think about you often, my friend! Miss the talks we used to have especially after the circus days.
