Ruth Bruster Obituary

RUTH MARIE BRUSTER
of Binghamton
Ruth Marie Bruster, 79, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009. She remained in her three generation family home throughout her illness surrounded by loving family, neighbors, and caregivers. Ruth was born July 13, 1929 the daughter of Clark Bruster and Marion Elizabeth Fish. A life long resident she graduated from Binghamton North in 1947. She was employed by GAF Corporation for 30 years before concluding her career at Link Aviation retiring in 1990. Highlights of her life were a company sponsored trip for two to Hawaii that she shared with her cousin Jean and traveling to Europe, with her parents, to visit areas where her father had served in World War I. She was a dedicated Binghamton and New York Mets fan. She is survived by her cousins Jean Bruster Eden of Ithaca, Brian Bruster Eden and his wife Barbara of Ithaca, their children Seth of Ithaca and Moriah of New York City, and Harold Bruster of California, Ruth also leaves a dear long-time family friend Mary Anne Damiano of Binghamton. She was predeceased by her beloved sister Shirley Damiano in April 2008 and cousins Betty Frances Bruster of New York City and Layton Fish of Muncy, Pa. The family wishes to express its heart felt gratitude to her friends and neighbors who provided support and loving care during the last months of her life especially Gary Nicholson, Sarah Dougherty, Sandra Beach, and Joyce Fowler.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 2nd, 11:00 a.m. at the Hopler Funeral Home, 483 Chenango Street, Binghamton with the Rev. Horace Brown King of the Ogden-Hillcrest United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive her friends at Hopler's from 10:30-11:00 a.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to either the Broome County Animal Care Council (in honor of her friend Catmandu) or the Living Care Fund of the Good Shepherd Fairview Home. Burial will occur at the Chenango Valley Cemetery at the family's discretion.
