Sophie B. Wood
of Hillcrest
Sophie B. Wood, 93, of Hillcrest, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006, suddenly at her home. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Wood; her parents, Sophie and Jacob Berg; her brother, Emanuel Berg; her sisters, Anna Kachmarik and Pauline Seager; and a very dear friend, Kay Wasecka. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and James Lamb, Port Crane; grandchildren, Steven and Marie Lamb, Binghamton, Linda and Bruce Vail, Port Crane; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Melissa Lamb, Binghamton, Ashley and Jason Vail, Port Crane; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Ogden-Hillcrest United Methodist Church. She was a retired employee of Singer Link. She always enjoyed her bus trips to Atlantic City and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, with the Rev. Horace B. King, Pastor of Ogden-Hillcrest United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Ogden-Hillcrest United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1061 Chenango St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901.
