Wayne R. Layton
of Johnson City, N.Y.
Wayne R. Layton, 65, went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 30, 2007. Predeceased by his father, Robert S. Layton, Sr.; mother, Marie D. Layton-Wertman; sister, Beverly J. Oliver; and his stepfather, Hurley Wertman. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne M. and Teresa Layton, Binghamton; and his grandson, Alexander; brother and sister-in-law, Robert S. Layton, Jr. and Winifred J., Harpursville, N.Y.; stepsister and her husband, Coralyn and Rodger Maus, Chenango Bridge; his niece and caregiver, Dorothy M. Walker, Johnson City; also a niece, Debbie; and nephews, Robert, William, Richard, and Don; his former wife, Joan Layton, Port Dickinson. Wayne retired from Singer-Link after 30 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran serving our country from 1959-1965. Member of American Legion Post #1. He was a kind and giving man to many charities that were important to him.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, Friday, 10 a.m. until 11:00.
