WILLIAM H. GEIB

William Herbert Geib, 89, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. He was born in Glen Ridge, N.J., on June 9, 1924, to the late Herbert J. and Helen Hasler Geib, and was the grandson of the artist William N. Hasler.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Phillips Geib.

He is survived by his daughter, Anne E. Geib (Paul), of Louisville, Colo., as well as three nieces and their families.

While attending Rutgers University, Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Europe during World War II. After the war, he returned to Rutgers and completed a degree in chemistry. He was hired by Allied Chemical Corporation as a chemist and spent his entire career at that company. He was an emeritus member of the American Chemical Society.

Bill was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell and served on many committees and in many capacities over the years. He and his wife Dorothy were very active in the Meals on Wheels program in Hopewell, delivering thousands of meals over many years. He was dearly loved and will be missed. The family will receive friends from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at the J.T. Morriss Funeral Home at 820 W. Broadway Avenue in Hopewell. A funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 1107 W. Broadway in Hopewell, followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester.
