77 passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2021. She was the loving wife of Frank M. Herrera they had been married for 54 years.
Ariane was born in East Prussia in 1943 to Karl and Herta Kohtz, The family relocated to a town called Isselhorst, Germany during the waning weeks of WWII. Karl established his dental practice while Ariane attended school. After graduating Ariane was hired by Pan American Airways, her dream career, traveling all around the world. Pan Am based her in New York City where she lived until marrying a Pan Am pilot. They settled in Rego Park, NY to be conveniently close to their work base, Kennedy Airport. Next they moved east to their new home in RI to enjoy boating and a slower pace to raise their children. Ariane was forced to retire from Pan Am when she became pregnant.
She had worked as a Stewardess for Pan American Air Ways (Pan Am) prior to working as a secretary for Quick Arms & Supply Co. She enjoyed reading books, gardening, playing tennis, and loved to travel, especially the couple of times a year to go to see her family in Germany. She most especially loved to socialize with her family and friends when she could.
Ariane was a German competition tennis player and continued to enjoy the sport until the last hour of her life. Ariane also enjoyed gardening, cooking, loved elegant entertaining, boating, and raising 2 daughters.
Besides her husband she is survived by her daughters, Kirsten Herrera – Fuhrmann and her husband Alan, and Ariane M. Herrera, her granddaughter Nicole and two great grandchildren Kyra, and Quinn.
Because of the current situation with the Covid 19 a Celebration of Ariane life will be held at a later date.
