I keep thinking on this. I played piccolo in marching band and Mr. Ferraro always asked me to fix anyone´s piccolo that was having problems. He had a kit in his office with spare pads, etc. How did he know that I was mechanical and that I could do this? It always left me scratching my head. It is a great memory!

While a superb band director and musical arranger, Frank's most notable talent was his ability to inspire people to pull together to pursue challenging goals. He did this with the Wilson Band and Reading Buccaneers and will be always remembered.

Mr. Ferraro was special. He marched to the beast of a different drummer in everything he did. We are all better for our time spent with him.

Dear Linda and Family, my deepest sympathy at the passing of Cousin Frank. Frank was always a bit of a celebrity in the Ferraro Family...and a great source of pride. He was the first in the family to go to college...which seemed to put him on a kind of pedestal, especially at that time ! He was ten years older than I. I remember him as a serious musician, with a great sense of humor. Occasionally, there would be an article in the Reading newspaper - and my Dad would cut it out and tack it on the bulletin board in his barber shop. May he rest is peace.....and may your own precious memories bring you comfort now

Wishing the Ferraro family peace during this difficult time and the comfort and pride in knowing that Frank J. Ferraro was revered by so many of the students he taught and future educators he inspired.
A gifted artist and brilliant strategic planner, Mr. Ferraro took a small, relatively obscure school band and built it into a powerhouse music program which enrolled students in instrumental music programs at the elementary school level, and nurtured their abilities as they advanced grade by grade. So successful were his methods (and those of his equally talented collaborator and wife, Linda Ferraro, and of the other music teachers they worked with) that the Wilson Senior High School Marching Unit became nationally renowned for its musicianship and precision, representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the Indianapolis 500, Festival of the States, and numerous other statewide and national music competitions and events.
Mr. Ferraro not only taught his students to become talented musicians, he inspired them to dream big and achieve success in whatever fields of endeavor they chose to enter. He was a truly gifted educator and a good man.

I was fortunate to be a student of Frank's at Boyertown. He was one of the most inspirational teachers in my entire life. Frank had exceptional talent, and he knew how to motivate students to achieve. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to know Frank during his journey through this life.

In 1963 while a student at Wilson school district , I felt our Band was fair at best, to somewhat boring. That was until Mr. frank ferraro came on the scene. He took that band and turned it into a 1st. class act real fast. I was not a member of the band, but, it didn't stop me from supporting them from my school. my heart goes out to his wife and family at this time, as i have lost several family members recently my self, so I can appreciate what they are feeling at this time.

I'm truly sorry for your loss. Such a great musician in his own rite, and an inspiration and icon to many. His solo work with the Reading Buccaneers will stay with me the rest of my life. RIP young man.

Frank was my junior high school band director at Boyertown HS from 1961 -1963. The Boyertown bands, both junior and senior high, reached a pinnacle of notoriety, success, and musicianship during the time that Frank was teaching at Boyertown. The combination of Frank and Arlen Saylor ( at the senior high) was unbeatable. Frank was dedicated, hard working, motivating and he set an example of achievement that inspired us students, developing pride in our band and the desire to be the best. I know I speak for all of the other students under Frank's direction in saying that one of the high points of our life was being under Frank's tutelage. May God bless the family in this time of grief.

I knew that his name was Frank Ferraro, but he was always MR Ferraro to all of us in the band. He was a great leader, who brought out the very best in all of us. So sorry to read of his passing. My condolences to Mrs Ferraro and the rest of the family.

Linda and family, I will always remember the Wilson Band as my high school family, mostly because of Frank. He taught us discipline, camaraderie and how to excel. What we learned from him was under appreciated as teenagers but appreciated as adults. He truly was a great teacher, leader and mentor who will be missed by many.

Mr. Ferraro was the wonderful director of the Wilson High School Band while I was a member. He was fair to all. He knew when to joke and when to be serious. He instilled in us a strong work ethic. His dedication, which became our dedication paid off with some of the best performances you could hope for from a high school band. Mr. Ferrari helped to make the world a better place through his leadership with the youth.

A dear friend of my father, Aris Kouvaros. They worked together at Wilson School District. He spoke often of Frank and they shared the same passion for music. Our thoughts and prayers with your family.
