Chris Rockway Obituary

Born October 24, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio to Walt and Marilou Rockway, Chris passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the age of 53 from pancreatic cancer. Chris is survived by his wife of thirty years, Liz, his daughter Jill Roberts (Matt), his son Michael (Jessica), his daughter Kaitlin, his mother Marilou, his brother Todd, and his sister Robin. Chris enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs, puttering in the garage to blues music, and traveling the West coast with his wife. A lifelong sports fan, Chris enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams and cheering on the San Francisco Giants. Chris graduated from Moraga's Campolindo High School in 1974 and went on to graduate from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1979. Chris spent 31 years working as a civil engineer, spending the majority of his career as an engineer and project manager at URS Greiner and later as a Principal at Mark Thomas and Company. He loved his job - both the analytical aspects and his hands-on role in developing and mentoring staff. Friends and family are invited to reflect and reminisce as we celebrate Chris' life on Sunday, October 24 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sunset Whitney Country Club in Rocklin. October 24 2010 1:00

I learned of Chris' passing today from a mutual friend. I knew Chris thru youth sports and a mutual kinship in the Engineering field. It was always a pleasure to hang out with Chris on the sidelines while our sons played on the field. I remember a great sense of humor and an unspoken pride of his family. Chris is gone before his time...my condolences to his wife and family...I will always have fond memories of Chris.
