Fannie JONES Obituary

JONES, Fannie Mae
October 22, 1936 - April 22, 2013
Fannie Mae Jones was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 22, 1936 to Lucinda and Robert Roberson.

She completed her elementary and high school education in Memphis, later moving to California in 1954 where she attended vocational school and junior college. Fannie Mae was twice married, first to Alfred Frederick Thomas Jr., and second to Odis Charles Jones. She and Odis raised five children in the San Francisco Bay Area.

God called Fannie Mae home to rest on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the tender age of 76. She leaves to rejoice in her memory: husband (Odis); three daughters (Latanya, Lasandra, and Lucretia); two sons (Alfred and Marc); one step-daughter (Theresa); three sisters-in-law (Lola, Deborah, and Kathleen); two daughters-in-law (Antoinette and Rebekah); three sons-in-law (Vinson, William Sr., and Michael); one brother (Albert); one sister (Claudette); ten grandchildren (William Jr., Lucianna, Antonyo, Lavencia, Malachi, Moriah, Maiah, Moserah, Cherlena, and Roosevelt); twelve great-grandchildren (Daylon, Jaliya, Jayden, Cianna, Elijah, Kianna, Ryshonn, Nevaeh, Devin, Kahvi, Anthony, and Nache); and numerous loving relatives and friends.

Passionate and driven in work, her career spanned a plethora of professions from food services to healthcare. Motivated only by her selfless love for others, Fannie Mae was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Often she would take time to just talk and listen to anyone who would care to share a moment. Accepting Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior, she was active in several churches and volunteer organizations. Especially kind to children, Fannie Mae loved newborns and thought of them as God's littlest angels.

Truly a unique and special soul, we shall miss Fannie Mae dearly, and wish to honor her with the creation of the Fannie Mae Jones Memorial Scholarship given annually to one under-resourced college bound student.

Cousin Fannie,

I'm sure you knew how much you meant to me...I tried to let you know every time we were together! You were such an important part of my growing and learning on my journey to womanhood. I thank God for blessing my life with you and I thank you for allowing Him to lead you. I will always remember (and try to emulate) your compassion, honesty, gentleness, and your willingness to give of yourself to help others. You were a PHENOMENAL woman! I will carry you in my heart forever...
