My mother, Virgilia Heimsath Pancoast Klein, living in NYC, was so sad to hear of Peggy's passing. My mother would often share lively stories about the Medina River Reading Club that Peggy and her husband participated in. Virgilia has often said how smart and kind Peggy always was.
The reading club was started up by my grandfather, Charles Herman Heimsath, and Peggy and many other summertime residents of Bandera. Charles was the founding minister at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, where Peggy was an active member.
My mother has recounted wonderful accounts of Peggy and other neighbors gathering under the stars on summer nights to discuss books and politics. I wish I had more information about this magical time in the 1940s and 1950s. If anyone remembers the reading club, please do reach out to me. I would love to discuss.
Blessings and sympathies to Peggy's amazing family and gratitude for the many gifts Peggy shared with her community over decades of service.

I light this candle from across the miles for my dear and sweet grandmother. I am thankful that I was able to attend the wake. The lighting of the candle symbolizes the love we had for each other. Also, the light is her guiding me through life. I was blessed to have her for forty seven years.

Peggy was one of the most amazing people I have ever known. She had wit, wisdom, and patience beyond what most of us can even imagine. Her writing was humorous and engaging, always educating while entertaining her readers. Her appreciation for history and preservation has influenced me throughout my life. Her ability to see what really mattered most was ever-present. Although Peggy believed in the power of education and encouraged her children to do well in school, I will never forget how she would occasionally say, "let's go to the river for the day. You kids need a mental health day off". She was right. They all did just fine scholastically and otherwise. I will also never forget how she stayed up all night typing a term paper in Spanish for a college sophomore who surely by then should have been able to type it herself! Thank you, Peggy, for all that you gave to everyone for all these years. We will never forget you.

Our sincere condolences to all of the Tobin family. I remember Mrs Tobin from my high school days; she was always a positive, warm presence, very interested in preserving Hill Country history.

I was so sad to hear of Peggy's passing. I remember her so well from the time my siblings and I were young as she was a great friend of my parents, Wanda and O'Neil Ford. I will always remember what a beautiful, calm and giving person she was. My condolences to ALL of her and Don's family...you are in my prayers. With love, Wandita Ford Turner

Miss Peggy always welcomed us and our children to her ranch when we arrived ad took a sincere and deep interest in each child whenever she saw them.
