Frank was a pillar of the San Jose and San Jose State community. They are diminished by the passing of the Spartan Barber of 4th Street. I miss him, and I need a haircut in that shop filled with memorabilia.

Frank was my barber, ultra-nice and ultra-reliable for 2 decades, Such a wonderful guy, he was a little brother, 10 years younger than my father and uncles who fought in the war. 13 years older than me, he was a touchstone to that generation now gone. I miss talking to him, he knew that world and those people, their movies, music and culture. He would play some old songs someone recorded for him on his cell phone. So friendly! Cut my hair just the way I wanted.

Frank was my uncle, and although not close in recent years (the last time I saw him was after my father Chauncey Santoro passed away), the resemblance of Frank to my mother is strong. My mother, Elizabeth, died young and this is how she probably would've looked had she lived longer. My condolences to Jacqueline and all his extended family.
