Theodore Sears Obituary

Theodore R. Sears

Ted Sears was born in Lewis Co., WA, on Oct. 2, 1919, and died in Seattle July 1, 2015, from the effects of COPD. He graduated from Kent High School, attended Whitman College and joined Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked at Korry Mfg. Co. for 30 years, retiring as president in 1982. Ted outlived two wives, Betty (married 1943-1974) and Peggy (married 1976-2011). He's survived by his sister Evalyn Humphrey, 104; daughter Janet Sears and sons Richard Sears and David E. Caldwell; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; 4 stepchildren and 5 step-grandsons. Ted was very grateful for all his family; Seattle Golf Club, where he was a member for 41 years, and the Mirabella Retirement Community, where he spent his final 3 years. He didn't want a formal memorial service, but family and close friends will gather at the Mirabella on July 20 to reminisce. Donations in Ted's memory may be made to Whitman College, the Evans Scholars Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
