Janine was a dear friend of mine for over 60 years. Since the third grade we were in classes together, Girl Scouts
birthday parties, slumber parties, camps, orchestra etc. Between High School and College we traveled to Europe
together for three months, sharing adventures and insights. We stayed in touch periodically after that, but in
later years we lived an hour from each other, sharing most of all our spiritual life and learnings together. Janine
was a wonderful poet as you know. I love and adore all her later works which are very spiritually based. She
was a seeker of the Truth, and I believe she may even have achieved the highest state of Being. She lived close
to and wrote for Amma Ji most recently, and given her poems to me over the last couple of years, I'm sure she
continues to experience the Knowledge of Immortal life and has achieved the bliss of Being. Hurrah Janine!!

I first met Janine Burford when we started kindergarten at 42nd Street School in Los Angeles in 1947. We grew up together, celebrating birthdays, joining Brownies and Girl Scouts, going on camping trips, playing at each others' homes. We went our separate ways after graduating from Dorsey High School, but Janine will always hold a special place in my heart because of our childhood together. Janine was always brilliant, and I have always been a bit in awe of her. Her poetry was beautiful and heartfelt. May her spirit abide in us all.

Oh Janine, mystical friend, what a long, strange and beautiful trip you had! Whom will I greet on Solstice now? I'm so glad you finally found the mother you were always seeking, and I hope you're now in the bliss you so fervently desired. Love always.
