David Stiles Obituary

David Francis Stiles Nov. 14, 1949 to Nov. 27, 2011 Passed away peacefully at home in San Mateo with his family by his side. David is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Duff Stiles, and devoted daughters Lindsey, Kelsey and Karin. He attended Hillsborough schools and graduated from Burlingame High in 1967 before serving in the US Army. A longtime resident of San Mateo, David worked for AT&T for 33 years until his retirement last year. David was excited to return to the SMUHSD, where he enjoyed driving the school bus. He was a man who appreciated the simple things in life, had a quick wit and was full of energy and love. David was a huge fan of Aragon High School athletics; where he was a regular supporter of all teams, even after his girls went off to college. Most of all, David is remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all. A celebration of David's life will be held on Sun, Dec 4, 2011 at 3 PM. Hope Lutheran Church, 600 42nd Ave, San Mateo, CA. Dear Lisa, Lindsey, Kelsey, and Karin,

I can't think of David without a smile coming to my face. He was always so full of adventure! David had the special capacity to include everyone in his circle of interest and I never felt left out when I was around him. He was full of wit and intelligence, always cracking me up with funny quips or surprising me by his insightful comments. I feel deeply enriched to have been able to benefit from David's goodwill and friendship. He has left me with so many memories and stories! Much of what I know about Lyon's high school days has come from David. David instigated numerous adventures (and misadventures!) that enlarged and changed Lyon's life. And David passed those stories onto Devin, too, giving Devin a much different view of his dad. David didn't just pass on stories to Devin, he continued the tradition and instigated adventures for Devin. It was because of David's enthusiasm and at his urging that Devin hiked Half Dome with you girls, an adventure that I know Devin will never forget. David was a wonderful and unique man. All three of us miss him terribly.

Dear Lisa,
We were saddened to learn about David today and want to extend our condolences to you and the girls. David gave the gift of laughter to us all. He was the sort of friend we always enjoyed hearing from. We have fond memories of the both of you in the early days at events like my sister's suprise birthday at Pine Mt Lake. Life is so precious and short. We feel honored to have known someone like David. You and your girls are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Aunt Lisa, "Hot Shot" was the best uncle. After reading about how good he was with kids in this guest book its no wonder that he was great with kids, he learned that skill from his nephews. LOL. I have many thoughts of childhood memories that bring many big smiles to me and my family when I share with them how great David was. We will miss him dearly . His legacy is a great one!

If I close my eyes and listen, I can still hear David's silly laugh. Lisa and girls, we will miss him and we are so thankful that we knew him for so long. He was a wonderful part of our own kids' growing up and we all have so many memories of him from Family Camp and other gatherings. We love you all and think of you every day . . . .

.
I'm shocked and saddened to learn of your husband's passing. Ths must be a difficult time especially consderng the loss of Maureen and your parents.

I never got the opportunity to meet David or your children - all I know is that they must be wonderful people if you loved them.
.
I would have gone to the service, however, I have 2 conflicts. Please know that I'll be there in spirit.

With deep sympathy,
