Cynthia Wray Obituary

SHELBY - Mrs. Cynthia Ann Grice Wray, 72, of 309 Windsor Drive in Shelby, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late James Pressley Grice, Sr. and Margaret Virginia Warlick Grice. Mrs. Wray attended Meredith College in Raleigh and studied bookkeeping and accounting at a business college thereafter. As a young adult, she worked in the mortgage loan department with Wachovia Bank & Trust in Winston-Salem while her husband was attending law school and then she briefly worked for First National Bank of Shelby. Subsequently, Mrs. Wray worked as legal assistant for her husband's law office and continued in this capacity until her retirement.
Beginning at the age of 7, she began piano lessons and continued these throughout high school. As an adult, she furthered her piano studies for a year and a half at Gardner-Webb University. One of her true joys was playing and listening to solo piano music. Her favorite composers were Chopin and Beethoven. Mrs. Wray was a devoted wife and mother and delighted in spending time with her three grandchildren.

Grice, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Wilmington; by her grandchildren, Sarah Stuart Henshaw, William Wray Henshaw, and Patrick Lowell Sale. She is also survived by a nephew, James P.
