Marcia PADGETT Obituary

PADGETT, Marcia Ann (Cox) Marcia Padgett, beloved educator and artist, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020, at her home in Spokane, Washington. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. Marcia was born Marcia Ann Cox in 1946 in Colfax, Washington to parents William and Bette Cox. Her early years were spent helping run the family business, the Tri-County Tribune newspaper in Deer Park, Washington. She attended Deer Park High School, where she made lifelong friends and was very socially active. Marcia was crowned Miss Deer Park in 1963. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in 1968. Marcia had a very keen eye for design, she worked at the Crescent department store in Spokane, creating window displays before becoming a home economics teacher. She later earned a Master of Education degree in counseling from Walla Walla College in 1991. Marcia worked a school counselor and continued teaching and working in the Spokane public schools until she retired in 2011. Marcia was a dedicated teacher, award-winning quilter, avid traveller, and above all else a wonderful and generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Marcia is survived by her two children, Robb and Amanda, her daughter-in-law Tanya, her four grandchildren, Lily, Asher, Sorrel, and Parker, her sister Jeanice, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed and loved forever. Memorial service to be announced at a later date.
