Matthew Steen Obituary

Matthew Allan Steen Matthew Allan Steen, 19, of Buda, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2013, in Austin, Texas. Matthew was born on July 21, 1993 to William Allan Steen and Donna Lynne Steen in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Hays High School in 2011. Anyone who knew Matthew knows that his favorite word was "LOVE." Matthew wrote the word LOVE on every surface he found and it was also his password to unlock his cell phone. LOVE is a perfect word for Matthew because LOVE is exactly what he brought to everyone that touched his life. His beautiful hazel eyes and smile touched all of us. We are forever blessed with the 19 wonderful years that GOD gifted us with him. Matthew will forever be in the hearts of his family and many friends. Matthew is survived by his parents William and Donna Steen; brother Bradley Steen; grandparents Scotty Steen, Judith McComis, Charles Wolff and Kathy Weber; uncle James Wolff; and cousins, Alexandria and Ashley Wolff. A memorial to celebrate his life will take place at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on January 12, 2013. A reception will be held at the Buda Methodist Church - Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Travis County Center for Child Protection or a charity of your choice.

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Matthew, but do know and love his grandmother Kathy. I'm sure he was a wonderful young man as part of Kathy's family. Words seem like so little right now, but please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Donna and Bill, there are no words that can express my sympathy. I received this poem when I lost someone special in my life and would love to share it with you:

If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane.
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again.
No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say "Goodbye".
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.
My heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you -
No one can ever know.
But now I know you want me
to mourn for you no more;
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store.
Since you'll never be forgotten,
I pledge to you today~
A hollowed place within my heart
is where you'll always stay.

My deepest sympathy,

Sebastian, Jessica & Tatiana Kulma

Matthew Allan Steen will always be in our hearts. I haven't seen Matthew in a while but I grew up with him. He and my brother were best friends. He always made everyone laugh and smile. I am so sorry Steen family, I know how much yall loved him and we loved him so much too. Memories of the fun times we all had together are still in my mind clear as day. I can still remember going to the beach with yall and Matthew teaching us how to do the sand slid board. He is someone who you couldn't forget because even young you could tell he cared about people. He will always be in our thoughts and prayers as will The Steen Family. He will never be far because nothing and no one can break a bond of love that Matthew made with yall and us. He has touched our hearts and we are deeply saddened by this accident, but I know that he is never to far away. We will forever love and have a spot in our heart for Matthew. With love, CiCi Barland
