Dennis Hargrove Obituary

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DENNIS GREGG HARGROVE May 12, 1967- September 17, 2018 Dennis Gregg Hargrove, 51, of Austin died Monday, September 17, 2018, following a short but brave battle against pancreatic cancer. He is survived by the two great loves of his life, his wife Pat and their 7-year-old daughter Parker. The other great love of Gregg's life was art, which he studied and pursued as both a profession and hobby. After earning dual degrees at Texas Tech, including a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in English Literature, Gregg moved to Austin and steadfastly worked to fulfil his childhood dream of creating super heroes. That pursuit led to a successful and rewarding career in graphic design, animation and video game development, producing more than 25 titles from video games to mobile apps. As an artist and company owner, Gregg worked across all graphic and gaming disciplines keeping his eye on every detail to ensure the highest quality product. When not creating games for others to play, Gregg could often be found jamming with one of his bands that played around Austin in the late '90s and early 2000s or loudly playing in the loft at home. Friends say Gregg had a huge heart and was always kind, as well as wise. He was a gentle giant who looked for the best in people and took great care to make others feel at ease. Gregg's presence made the world a better place. Gregg described himself as energetic, optimistic and able to see every opportunity presented to him as "the next great adventure." He considered himself a storytellera trait that was displayed in everything from his work to his music, as well as the way he interacted with his many friends and played with his daughter. In that spirit, Gregg's family invites all who knew and loved him to join them in a celebration of Gregg's life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Hope Presbyterian Church (11512 Olson Dr., Austin, TX 78750). For those wishing to honor Gregg, in lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to Parker's college fund via The Gift of Education: http://bit.ly/PHGroveCollegeFund. In addition to his wife and daughter, Gregg is survived by his parents Donna Hargrove Thomas (Ray) and Dennis Hargrove (Candace Hall); sister, Denice (Vic) Mendez, stepsister, Karlet Johnston; beloved nieces and nephews; his aunts, Carla Hawkins, Pam (Bill) Davison and Jan Howell; as well as numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

Was searching online tonight to find Gregg's artwork to share with my wife, in honor of Stan Lee's passing. Stan was one of Gregg's great heroes when we were in high school. I am greatly saddened to learn of Gregg's passing. My heart goes out to his family Pat & Parker, his mother Donna, & all of his family & friends. Rest In Peace, Qui Chang Kane.
