Mike was a good friend and colleague. We had lots of interesting, enjoyable and lively discussions not only about economics and statistics, but also about the books he devoured constantly and in great variety. And he spoke often of you, Dianne and Christine, always with great pride and concern for your well-being. I, too, will miss him. Please let me know if I can be of any help.

Dear Dianne:

The problem with knowing an exceptional person is that you miss them really bad when they're gone. I miss Little Mike alot, and I can't imagine how bad you miss him. Clearly he loved you and his family. I'll never forget how proud he was to become a grandfather and we all recieived a photo of her in our email.

I am glad that he finally got down to the Virgin Islands and I will never forget your hospitality when I made it to Tallahassee. I'll never forget Mike or his goofy smile.

To Dr Piette's Family,

My deepest sympathies and condolences on your loss. I was a student last year at the Ct School of Financial Management. Dr Piette told many stories about his friends and family during these classes. It was obvious he was a devoted husband and father and you all meant a great deal to him. I will think of him fondly whenever I look at an economic forecast and am greatful that he shared his knowledge and taught me so much during those classes.

With deepest sympathy,
