Don Chatfield Obituary

Longtime Bath resident Don Chatfield passed away Saturday January 5, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.

Don was born Nov. 27, 1928 at home in Savona NY to Philip and Fannie Chatfield and lived on the family farm until the age of 8 when they moved to the present farm on Eagle Valley Rd.
Don graduated from Haverling Central in the class of 1948 and enjoyed hosting mini class reunions in his last few years.

Don met and married the late Dawn M. Stevens in 1954 in Buffalo NY and they were the owner/operators of Valley View Farm until Dawn's passing in 2015.

Don was a very active member of the community and was involved in several organizations: Past President of Rotary, Steuben Alleghany BOCES, and 4H, 70 year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bath where he was an Elder and Trustee, 60 + year Mason, Agricultural Citizen of the Year, Treasurer of the Steuben County Agricultural Society (Bath Fair) for several years.

Don is survived by his daughter Dianna (Joe) Burleson of Savona, NY, son Dean of Rochester, NY, sister Helen (Paul) Tennies of Pittsfield, MA, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Dawn and son Dale.

A memorial service will be held January 19, 2019, at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church of Bath.

The family would like to thank our dear friends, Ruth Moore, The Barnards, and CareFirst for the love support and guidance during this time. And a special thank you to Connie from CareFirst who's angelic care will always be treasured.
