Dorothy Ann Giannini
Dorothy Ann Giannini, 73, of Salinas, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born April 2, 1940, in Salinas.
Dorothy was a partner of Christensen & Giannini and D&J Packing, a local farming and harvesting operation. She was a beautiful wife, mother and grandmother. Dorothy grew up in Salinas and graduated from Salinas High School. In her younger years, she enjoyed raising animals, riding horses and hunting. Dorothy enjoyed watching crops grow and seeing the baby calves each year at the family ranch in Chualar. She loved the western lifestyle and the California Rodeo. She was a supporter of 4-H, county fairs and all agricultural organizations. Dorothy adored her family and friends.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, Jon Giannini of Salinas; daughters, Terry (Bob) Fistolera of Santa Rosa, Shelley (Sam) Daoro of Chualar Canyon, Lori Giannini of Salinas; son, Dirk (Maria) Giannini of Salinas; grandchildren, Gianna and Kyle Fistolera of Santa Rosa, Wesley and Bradley Daoro of Chualar Canyon, Alec Ana and Maya Lisa Giannini of Salinas; sister, Ruth (Paul) McHaney of Salinas; sister-in-law, Babette Smith of Lockwood and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.
A private family Graveside service will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Chualar Christensen Cattle Ranch, 1777 Old Stage Road, Salinas, CA 93908.
Memorial donations can be made to Monterey County Agricultural Education or a charity of your choice.
