Rocco Tonzo Obituary

Rocco Salvatore Tonzo, 78, of the Jefferson Manor, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 8, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa, to the late Antonio and Antoinette (Morece) Tonzo. In 2005, he married his sweetheart, Linda Sunderman, in Fort Myers Beach, Fla. Linda survives him.
He was a carpenter and was self-employed for most of his career. He specialized in custom deck building with many of his hand built structures still standing from decades ago.
He was a member of the Allegheny Council No. 38, Royal and Select Master Masons, and in 1973 served as the Worshipful Master in North Hills, Pa. He was also a Shriner and a member of the Allegheny Commandery No. 35, Knights Templar.
He thoroughly and aggressively enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife Linda, and gambling; he and Linda would take pleasure trips to Vegas when he was able to do so.
More than anything else, he loved his family and was concerned for their wellbeing and happiness. They will miss him deeply.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Lynn Radnoti of Temecula, Calif.; his son, Joseph Rocco (Carla) Tonzo of Wexford, Pa.; his daughter, Dawn Michelle (Martin) Tellman of Salem, Ohio; his sister, Angie Miller of Pittsburgh, Pa.; his brother, Dominic (Donna) Tonzo of Monroeville, Pa.; five grandsons: Johnny Radnoti, Joseph Rocco Tonzo II, Vincent Michael Tonzo, Daniel Thonios Tonzo and Anthony Philip Tonzo; and one granddaughter, Jesse Radnoti. In addition to his family, he is survived by the many members of his "extended family," who are Dr. David Girardi, the entire medical and nursing staffs at the Brookville Hospital and Jefferson Manor, and all other equally important staff members of the Brookville Hospital and Jefferson Manor. Rocco's family wants you all to know that he loved you for all your care, help, and sincere friendships throughout the years. His family also thanks all of you for your loving care that has been provided to him throughout his entire journey with all of you.
Rocco is preceded in death by one daughter, Monica Lee Tonzo, and one grandson, Desmond Radnoti.
According to his wishes, there will be no formal viewing. A funeral service will be begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at the McKinney -d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825, with the Rev. Chuck Jack officiating. Following the funeral service, a Masonic service will take place for those who wish to stay and take part. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Brookville Hospital, 100 Hospital Drive, Brookville, PA 15825, or to the Jefferson Manor Health Center, 417 Rt. 28 North, Brookville, PA, 15825.
